Joy-Anna Duggar isn’t slowing down on her dream home makeover. The former Counting On star posted an exciting update on Instagram. She said she’s “really loving” her new floor plan, and it’s all thanks to her brother John.
“We’ve been getting so much done on our house so far,” Joy-Anna said in her new video, clearly proud of the progress. “Austin and his dad and some friends of ours have been working on the house on demo all week, and it’s going so well.”
Fans have followed her renovation journey closely, but this time, she’s taking it to another level. Joy-Anna dashed downstairs for measurements. Then, she began rethinking her whole main floor, kitchen included.
Counting On: The Kitchen Confession That Changed Everything
Joy-Anna admitted she’s been “racking her brain” trying to make the kitchen bigger. “It feels so small for the size of the house,” she said. That’s when her brother John stepped in with a game-changing idea.
“He was like, ‘Why don’t you just move the kitchen?’” Joy-Anna recalled, laughing at her own surprise. “Wait, what? And so he has this genius idea. Instead of having the kitchen here and having the guest bedroom here, he said, why don’t you swap it?”
She called it “genius” and immediately started sketching out how it could work. “It’s gonna flow so nicely,” she explained. “You come in and you’ve got living room, dining room, and then the kitchen all right here.”
Counting On: Bigger Laundry Room, New Office, and Mudroom Magic
Joy-Anna also revealed she plans to turn part of the old kitchen space into a large laundry room. “That’s like an eight by nine laundry room, way bigger than what it currently is!” she said.
Her current laundry room might even become a “mini office space.” She teased fans that she’s “going to finish the mudroom design next.” She promised to “throw some furniture in the house” to help everyone visualize.
Fans can expect more updates soon as the Counting On alum continues to share her progress.

Counting On: Fans Love Her Energy, and Her Brother’s “Genius” Idea
Fans couldn’t stop cheering her on. Many praised her excitement and confidence during the project. They loved how “happy and excited” she looked about the progress.
Several fans called the idea “genius” and agreed that moving the kitchen was the smartest decision she could make. Others offered design tips like adding a walk-in pantry or connecting it to the garage for convenience.
One fan pointed out that a kitchen with more windows would make the back of the house brighter and feel more open. Another said she should “absolutely move the kitchen” to create more space and flow.
The reactions were very positive. Everyone agrees this redesign could truly transform the house.
