“It’s all about control.” David Woolley shared his views on polygamy in an emotional talk with Christine Brown on Sister Wives.
Christine asked, “So you think with polygamy, a big flaw would be the man?”
David didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah. Major flaw,” he replied.
Christine nodded, adding, “And I know you said before you felt like they liked the attention. They liked when they had to fight over them.”
David doubled down. “Oh, they love the fighting. They love the competition between the women,” he said. “Majority of the ones that I’ve been around, and I’ve been around hundreds of them, yes. They use it to control the women. In that part, if you’re not obeying me, I’m punishing you, and I’m going to go to the other one. And then I was like, sure, I’ll take you right in. And that’s what polygamy does, is control women, and it’s not a right thing to do.”
Christine’s face said it all, she was visibly emotional but proud of David for speaking so openly.
Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Offers a Different Take
Janelle stepped in with a fresh view. She reminded everyone that no relationship style is perfect. “There are a lot of tragic stories in polygamy, but there are in monogamy as well,” she said.
She explained why the Browns went public years ago: “I think it’s really dangerous to paint a whole group of people with a broad brush based on one observed experience. The secrecy and lack of empowerment for women have sort of allowed some of those things to flourish. That was one of the reasons we went public, we wanted to sort of end that.”
David revealed the conversation hit close to home. “I always looked down on my oldest sister. She was mentally damaged from it, from that kind of crap her husband pulled on her,” he shared.
Christine added, “Two sisters that lived polygamy had a really, really rough time. So he knows about polygamy. He knows the ins and outs of it, and he’s known about it for years.”
Sister Wives: Fans Applaud David for His Honesty
Fans quickly took sides in the comments, most applauding David for his honesty and emotional awareness.
“I think David is right,” one wrote. Another added, “Christine, you are blessed.”
One fan praised Christine’s glow after leaving Kody: “Wow, Christine looks so much better since she left that nitwit Kody!”
Viewers also believed David when he claimed he’d met “hundreds” of polygamous men. “He said hundreds and I believe him,” one said.
However, not everyone agreed completely. One comment pointed out, “Janelle still believes that plural marriage was right 😢.”
