Catie's Friend Ryan Finally Named The Problem Nobody On The Show Would Say Out Loud

For weeks, Catie Norboe has framed her drunken attempts to kiss her friends as a symptom of her OCD. In the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé, her friend Ryan was the first to gently offer a different explanation. He said it directly to her face.

The two met up for a run, where Catie recapped her rough conversation with Josh about the birthday party. She repeated her fear that her OCD could sabotage the relationship. Ryan heard her out, then redirected.

“I’m kind of worried about your relationship with alcohol,” he told her. “Because you can be a very fun, chill person, but then, like, drunk Catie does things that sober Catie regrets a lot.”

Why That One Sentence Matters

Ryan’s observation cuts through the entire season’s framing. Catie’s questionable moments have one thing in common, and it’s not her mental health diagnosis. Sober Catie does not chase her friends around bars asking for kisses. Every incident Josh has had to sit through happened with drinks involved.

Catie admitted she worries about that too. She quickly returned to the OCD explanation. She also increased the engagement speed and expressed uncertainty about her desires.

Those concerns can all be real at once. The show features an expert stating that her behavior isn’t a typical OCD symptom. A close friend also expressed concern about her alcohol use. The explanations Catie keeps reaching for are running out of support from the people around her.

Ryan Proved Something About Her Friend Group

There is a quieter takeaway in this scene. Catie’s friends mostly showed up as her targets or mere bystanders. None of them ever challenged her story. Ryan takes a chance on an awkward chat during a run. This makes him the first person this season to be a real friend, not just a sidekick.

It also complicates his role in the storyline. Josh previously cut Ryan off after an “inappropriate” night out, and his presence at the birthday party added fuel to the couple’s fight. The runner delivering the season’s most honest moment is the same friend Josh wanted gone. Reality TV rarely writes it that neatly.

The Frugal Living Backstory

Catie’s unconventional streak predates the party drama. Fans first saw her for her extreme frugality. She refused to buy furniture and clung to a worn-out mattress. This mattress had even become a real health concern. Josh wanted basic household items, but Catie saw his spending as reckless.

That context matters for where the couple goes next. Their conflicts have never been about one bad night. It’s about two people with very different instincts trying to blend their lives in 90 days.

Did They Actually Get Married?

Fans think Catie and Josh might have had the wedding, but it’s not confirmed. If true, the bigger question is what changed before the altar.

The K-1 visa deadline has led many couples to marry quickly and fix issues later. The franchise’s many divorced alumni reveal how that often turns out. Josh has already said he cannot keep having the same conversation. The wedding might not be the end if the drinking question remains unanswered. It may just be waiting for a Happily Ever After season.

  1. Finally it’s been said out loud and to her directly!! I just wish Josh was the one that actually had the balls to point it out about the behavior before n after the alcohol use. Is it possible he feels like if he were to ask her to stop drinking maybe he wouldn’t be around very long?!
