Crystal Kung Minkoff kept a behind-the-scenes story to herself for over a year. On the July 13 episode of Humble Brag, the podcast with Cynthia Bailey, the former RHOBH star shared that she acted before the season 13 reunion. She wanted to keep Annemarie Wiley’s husband out of the building.
“At my last reunion, which, it was her first season and only season, I had made sure to request that he was not allowed to be there,” Crystal, 43, said of Marcellus Wiley. “I called production, and I made sure. I was going to insist, but apparently they already asked him not to come.”
She went further, saying she was prepared to skip the taping entirely. “I was like, ‘I can’t come if he’s here.’”
Why She Felt That Way
Crystal said she and Garcelle Beauvais always felt uneasy with Marcellus, 51. She claimed the former NFL player spread lies and false accusations about them online during season 13. This was also the season where Crystal and Annemarie had open conflicts.
According to Crystal, the network stepped in to smooth things over. “We had a lot of people involved, like the production network. So they were very helpful with us, we were protected, and they said, ‘Don’t worry,’ but they made it a blanket, like, ‘No husbands allowed. No partners allowed,’ to make it not focused,” she said.
Us Weekly has reached out to Bravo for comment on the claims.
The blanket no-partners rule is a telling production detail. Instead of focusing on one husband, the show reportedly banned all of them. This move helped maintain peace and avoided any public conflict. Crystal’s story remained hidden until she decided to share it. She only did so after everything changed this month.
Why She’s Talking Now
The timing of Crystal’s revelation is the story behind the story. Marcellus was arrested for domestic battery on July 4. This followed an alleged fight with Annemarie at a Florida hotel. In her witness statement, Annemarie said he threatened to kill her and assaulted her. A court issued a no-contact order on July 5, and Annemarie filed for divorce on July 6 after 12 years of marriage.
In her filing, Annemarie claimed a “continuing and escalating pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control, and intimidation, much of which our children have seen.” She wants full custody of their three children. She is asking for no visitation, no spousal support, and no attorneys’ fees. She also wants a domestic violence restraining order for the children.
Marcellus denied what he called “baseless claims” in a social media post about their “unfortunate divorce.”
Crystal’s Reaction To The Allegations
Crystal did not gloat or connect dots on the podcast. Her response to Annemarie’s filing focused on the human cost, despite the two women’s rocky history.
“It’s hard to read for anyone to go through that. Obviously, she and I had a very tumultuous experience together,” Crystal said. “But I feel very sad for the children. Very, very sad. It’s so public. It’s absolutely everywhere.”
She closed with the same thought. “Innocent kids is always just, it’s very, very sad. So we’ll see how it unfolds.”
That restraint is worth noting. Crystal and Annemarie’s feud was real, and a messier person would have used this moment to settle old scores. Crystal shared her own experience. She expressed concern for three kids caught in a public storm. She left the legal questions to the court, where they belong. Back then, her discomfort with Marcellus meant something. Now, the divorce case will clarify what the allegations mean.
