Bethenny Frankel says a routine check turned into a stressful few weeks. The Real Housewives of New York City alum shared the story in an Instagram video on October 15. In her account, testing at a high-end medical service led to a very high risk number. Follow-up scans have not confirmed a problem. She will get another MRI in six months.
RHONY: What She Says Happened
Frankel, 55, said the provider ran genetic and blood tests and told her she had a 98 percent risk of breast cancer. She said one woman at the service suggested a double mastectomy to be sure. She was stunned. After she asked for time, a women’s health specialist came in and told her she did not need that now. The specialist said she needed to be serious and diligent about testing, as E! News reported. These are Frankel’s words. The reports do not include a comment from the provider.
RHONY: Where Things Stand
Frankel then had a breast MRI. She said it found something tiny, and the radiologist told her he was not particularly concerned. She had a biopsy. According to her, the team could not find the thing they spotted before. They told her to come back for an MRI in six months. She said the process was nerve-wracking. She also mentioned she had once been misdiagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
RHONY: Her Message
Frankel ended the video with advice. “Be diligent, be thorough, double check, triple check, get checked,” she said. She added that most things do not happen, but some do, and she plans to stay proactive.
