Ailyn Ortiz’s “Closet Roulette” Sparks Overconsumption Debate

Influencer Ailyn Ortiz is turning her closet into content. She randomly picks out jeans and a top for her new “closet roulette” series. But fans quickly shifted focus to the size of her wardrobe.

Playing Closet Roulette

Ortiz kicked off the video by explaining her new series: “So let’s play closet roulette, where I blindly pick out an outfit for my giant closet. I’m gonna start off with the jeans. I’ll give myself six seconds, whatever I land on, I’m just gonna go with.”

After pulling out a pair of medium-wash, low-rise baggy jeans, she admitted, “Okay, wait, these jeans are not bad.”

Next came the top. “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6… okay, this is the shirt I got. Oh, okay, wait. I think this is actually so cute. I haven’t had a chance to wear this out.”

Ortiz then transitioned to show the full outfit: “Here is the outfit on. I actually think this looks so cute. This is definitely something I would actually wear.”

She accessorized with a zigzag hairband, saying, “That low key took a really long time.” When it came to shoes, she turned to viewers for help: “Thinking my Golden Gooses or my Uggs. You guys help me decide. Let me know how you think my outfit came out.”

Fan Reactions: Dream Closet or Overconsumption?

The comments section lit up almost immediately. One fan swooned, “Ok but that ✨CLOSET?!✨ Every girl’s dream.” Another said, “It’s giving the closet from Barbie dream house.”

But criticism also rolled in. “Overconsumption core,” wrote one viewer, sparking a heated thread. Another pointed out, “She admits there are clothes she doesn’t even wear. This is horrible for the environment.”

Even some longtime fans chimed in with mixed feelings. “I like her. I’m literally subscribed to her. But this is overconsumption. It’s not sustainable.”
