HGTV’s favorite couple are proof that when it’s right, it’s obvious.
Ben and Erin Napier share their story about how they met and their quick romance. They also discuss why modern dating often takes too long.
And yes. They really decided to get married after six days.
Ben and Erin Knew Almost Instantly
The couple met in 2004 while attending college in Mississippi. Erin interviewed Ben for the school newspaper. That was it.
“I remember seeing Erin the first week of school,” Ben once told People. “She had a pixie haircut. I didn’t know what a pixie cut was, but I knew I liked it.”
Six days later, they were sure.
“Six days later, we decided we would get married,” Erin later wrote. “And that was that.”
Nearly two decades later, nothing has changed.
“I feel really lucky that we both knew,” Erin recently said ahead of their new Home Town season.
Ben joked that the hardest part now is surprising each other.
“It’s real hard,” Erin added. “We’re together 24/7. We have perfect communication. No secrets. You can’t have secrets when you’re always together.”
Their Dating Advice Is Straight to the Point
The Napiers did not sugarcoat their advice for people still looking for love.
“I feel like people don’t take enough risks anymore,” Erin said. “Just say what you really think.”
She questioned why people stay stuck in half-relationships.
“What if you’re just lukewarm dating someone forever and they have no intention of being with you forever? What are we doing?”
Ben jumped in with the hard truth.
“Even if it breaks your heart.”
Erin doubled down, urging people to stop guessing and start asking.
“Just say, ‘Do you like me? Do you want to marry me? Where do you see this going?’”
It is not romantic. It is efficient. And it clearly worked for them.
‘Home Town’ Season 10 Pushes Them to the Edge
The couple returns for a new season of Home Town facing their biggest challenges yet. According to Ben, every project tested them in new ways.
“This season is extremely difficult,” he admitted. “Every project pushed us to our limits.”
Erin agreed, saying the season proved one thing.
“We learned that we can do hard things.”
The new season features three main projects:
Restoring a historic home over two episodes.
Renovating a maternity ward at a beloved hospital.
Helping Ben’s brother Jesse get ready for his growing family.
Through it all, the same theme comes up again and again.
Commitment. Honesty. Showing up.

Why Their Love Story Still Hits
In a world of dating apps and mixed signals, Ben and Erin’s story feels almost shocking. Six days. No games. No maybes.
It is not advice everyone will follow. But it is advice that makes people stop scrolling.
And maybe ask the question they have been avoiding.
