Counting On alum Joy-Anna Duggar shared a sweet glimpse into her pregnancy memories. She revealed a list of baby boy names she and her husband, Austin Forsyth, once considered but never chose.
“I just found one of my old journals from when I was pregnant with my last baby boy,” Joy-Anna said. “Here are some baby boy names that we had down on our list that I completely forgot about.”
She began reading through the handwritten list with a laugh, explaining that Clayton had an “X” next to it. “I don’t know if that means I didn’t like it or if Austin didn’t,” she joked.
Then came a string of classic and old-fashioned names. “Edgar. Edwin. That was a big one because Austin’s grandpa’s name was Edwin,” she said. “We were going to do Edwin James, but we decided against it.”
Other options included Elliot, Houston, Truman, and Banton, a name Joy-Anna said she loved. “In Austin’s family, there was a great, great, great, great, great relative named Banton,” she said. “I always thought that was so cool.”
Counting On: From Walter to Gunner: How They Made Their Final Choice
Joy-Anna shared more favorites, including Walter, Camden, Easton, and Canon. “Canon was in a toss-up against Bowman or Gunner,” she said. “I loved Bowman, and we’d call him Bow, but Austin didn’t really like it, so we decided on the one we both liked.”
That final name turned out to be Gunner James, a choice that wasn’t even on their list at first. “In the hospital, we added it,” she said. “It just fit perfectly with our family because we have Gideon, Evelyn, and then Gunner.”
She said she loved Reuben, calling it a “strong biblical name.” Then, she listed other options like Rowan, Walton, and Winston.
Counting On: “Walter Is Timeless!”
Fans flooded the comments to share their favorites, and their own family stories.
“I LOVE Walter,” one follower wrote. “I wanted to name my son this so bad!” Another said, “My oldest is Walter! We call him Walt. It was my grandfather’s name.”
