Kody Brown is promising a fresh start. The Sister Wives patriarch spoke with Access Hollywood about joining Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. He hinted that this marks a new chapter in his life.
The reality star said he jumped at the chance. “I got excited. It felt like a purpose in a way. I needed a reason, something driving me to get in shape, and I loved it.”
He trained for weeks with rucksacks and laps in the pool but admitted he hit a wall. “What’s sad is I peaked halfway there… I realized that I’m in terrible shape.”
Breaking Point Exposed
But it wasn’t the physical pain that got him. It was the mental grind. “They will find your weakness. They will push you to the point where you break,” he said, adding he found himself sobbing not from pain but from the emotional toll.
He described brain fog and constant forgetfulness under pressure. “They’d tell me 10 things I had to do, and I remembered five.”
Robyn Brown’s Reaction
Kody Brown revealed wife Robyn’s initial response to his decision was wary. “Her initial reaction was certainly like, we’re going to have to talk about this.” But she quickly saw he was locked in. “She’s like, ‘No, I’ve already lost you to this.’”
When asked if Robyn could ever do the show, Kody gave a flat no. “She’s a very tender soul, and this is a very mean environment… I would never want her to be in that environment.”
Marriage and Apologies
Kody also tried to set the record straight about rumors of expanding his marriage again. “No, I wasn’t ever considering it… Robin and I are married. We’re lovers. We have a great relationship.”
He said he still feels a bond with polygamy, but new additions aren’t realistic.
Kody Brown also addressed offering apologies to those hurt during the family’s messy split. “My family struggled to continue to be a team… Everybody needs to be accountable for their part in it, and I want to be accountable for mine.” He admitted Robin once told him, “You’re not the guy. That’s not who I married.” He now sees Special Forces as a “Phoenix” moment – burning his old self down.
Fans Aren’t Buying It
Viewers didn’t hold back. One blasted, “Kody saying we went into this with humility and that he is vulnerable are 2 words that have never been him.” Another added, “He is so awkward. He just rambles and says nothing.”
The harshest digs came for Robyn. “No, Robyn didn’t think it was something he needed. Robyn saw the paycheck just saying.” And one summed it up: “Him and Robyn need to fade off into oblivion.”
Others called him a “con artist” who alienated his kids, and one quipped, “Is Robyn still making him practice social distancing?? 😂.”
