Kody Brown finally arrived in North Carolina to offer the apology he says has been on his mind. But the first stop on his so-called “pilgrimage” did not go the way the Sister Wives patriarch imagined.
TLC cameras caught Kody sitting with Janelle Brown, trying to fix years of hurt. Instead, he got hit with a reality check he did not seem prepared for.
Kody Opens With a List of Regrets
Kody started their sit-down with a rehearsed confession.
“I just wanted to come and say that I apologize,” he said, admitting he brought a list. “I want to apologize for being so angry and so bitter over the family breakup. Nobody deserved to have me be that angry.”
The problem? Janelle no longer recognizes the man in front of her.
“I kept thinking I don’t know who this guy is,” she told him. “This is not the guy that I was married to forever.”
Her confessional cut even deeper.
“The person I would see speaking all these things publicly, I don’t know who that guy is. He lives a completely different life now. So do I.”
Her honesty revealed a truth: she missed the idea of family more than the relationship.
“I never saw this coming in a million years,” she said, recalling dreams of raising the kids as one united unit. “Thank goodness the kids are still siblings. That was one of the biggest things we did accomplish.”

Janelle Admits She Lost Sight of Their Marriage
In a surprising moment, Janelle accepted part of the blame for the downfall.
“I thought about the family so much more than our relationship,” she said. “I probably should have been focused a little bit more on our relationship and not so much the family.”
It was the closest thing to closure viewers have seen between them in years. But the tension in the air showed that rebuilding trust is far from simple.

Kody Brown’s “Pilgrimage” Has Just Started
Kody plans to visit Meri and Christine after Janelle. But even he admitted he isn’t emotionally ready.
“My heart isn’t soft enough to actually apologize to them yet,” he told cameras. “This jack wagon is an a**hole to most people and I don’t want to do that anymore.”
He also claimed he never realized he was the problem until three of his four marriages collapsed.
“I thought everybody liked me,” he said. “Then three people tell you you’re an ahole… what are you talking about? You’re the ahole!”
