Sister Wives: Mykelti Brown Admits She Nearly Chose Polygamy After Marriage

Life could have gone in a very different direction for Sister Wives star Mykelti Brown.

Kody Brown and Christine Brown Woolley’s 29-year-old daughter has shared that she once thought about living a polygamous life after marrying her husband, Tony Padron.

And according to Mykelti, she did not just think about it. She almost made it happen.

Sister Wives: Mykelti Says She Had A Polygamous Family Picked Out

On the Growing Up in Polygamy podcast, Mykelti surprised listeners. She shared that before meeting Tony, she was already interested in a possible plural family.

“I had my polygamist family picked out,” she said.

She never approached them. But the idea never fully went away.

After marrying Tony in 2016, Mykelti said she remained open to polygamy for the first few years of their marriage.

“The first couple of years of our marriage, I wasn’t strictly opposed to polygamy,” she admitted. “I was like, ‘We could join. We could do polygamy.’

Sister Wives: She Even Picked Potential Sister Wives

Tony revealed that Mykelti went a step further.

“She was like, ‘Do you want Girl A or B? These are the only choices you get though. These are the ones I like,’” he said.

Mykelti did not deny it.

“That’s true,” she admitted. “He’s not wrong.”

Unlike her parents, Mykelti said religion was not the motivation.

“I didn’t want the religion of it,” she explained. “I wanted the bond of the sister wife.”

She said she loved the idea of having a built in female partner and support system.

Sister Wives: Tony Shut It Down Fast

Tony made it clear he was never on board.

“By the way, I said no,” he said bluntly. “I just thought it was wild.”

He added that Mykelti was much more optimistic about polygamy at the time.

“She tried to paint it like, ‘Oh, it’s so cool,’” he said.

Tony’s answer never changed.

Sister Wives: Mykelti Admits Polygamy Would Have Ended Her Marriage

Looking back now, Mykelti says Tony was right.

She admitted they would not have survived plural marriage.

“We would not have been a successful polygamous family,” she said. “We would have been divorced already.”

She also admitted she is not submissive enough to make that lifestyle work.

Today, the couple shares three children and remains firmly monogamous.
