Wendy Osefo from Real Housewives of Potomac and her husband, Edward Osefo, are in serious legal trouble. The Bravo couple was arrested in Westminster, Maryland, on October 9. They face multiple felony fraud charges, just months after reporting a burglary at their home.
According to E! News, both were indicted by a Maryland grand jury. Wendy has seven felony counts. Edward has nine felony counts, plus eight misdemeanor conspiracy charges and one count for giving a false statement to police.
Authorities say the pair falsely reported a break-in in April 2024. They claimed over $200,000 in stolen luxury items, like jewelry, clothing, and designer shoes. Investigators now say that many of the “stolen” items were returned later or worn by Wendy herself.
“Detectives found images of a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary took place,” the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said.
The couple reportedly claimed $450,000 in insurance losses, based on documents from TMZ. Both were released on $50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court in November.
Wendy Osefo Speaks Out
Wendy’s rep released a statement saying the couple is home and staying positive.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” the rep told E! News. They appreciate the support and concern from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court.”
The statement ended with a familiar celebrity request: “At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy.”
But fans didn’t hold back online.
Fans Blast “Fake Luxury Lifestyle”
Social media lit up with criticism. One user wrote, “It’s amazing how these reality TV stars put their entire life on TV, then ask for privacy when it’s something they don’t want to share.” Another joked, “Teresa Giudice can be their prison consultant.”
Others accused the couple of chasing an image they couldn’t afford. “They flaunt wealth they don’t really have. As a result, they resort to criminal behavior to keep up appearances,” said one viewer.
A particularly harsh comment read, “Wendy humiliated her children and mother. She earns half a million a season. John Hopkins will never accept her back. She threw away everything for greed.”
The criticism didn’t stop there. Another comment went viral quoting Dave Ramsey: “Don’t buy things you can’t afford, with money you don’t have, to impress people you don’t like.”
