TLC fans met Lucas Higdon in 2021.
He was 33.
He weighed 619 pounds.
And he admitted he dreaded waking up every morning.
Now, years later, viewers are asking the same question.
Did Lucas finally turn his life around?
The answer is complicated.
Where Lucas Started on My 600-Lb Life
Lucas Higdon appeared on My 600-Lb Life Season 10, Episode 9.
At his heaviest, everyday life felt unbearable.
“I dread waking up in this body every morning,” he said.
“Everything is painful on every level.”
He turned to food for comfort.
Portion control was out of control.
That is when he sought help from Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan, better known as Dr. Now.
Dr. Now Pushed Him Hard
Dr. Now gave Lucas a strict goal.
Lose 30 pounds in four weeks.
Lucas showed up lighter.
Then lighter again.
619 pounds dropped to 590.
Then 539.
Dr. Now approved him for gastric sleeve surgery.
By surgery day, Lucas weighed 515 pounds.
The procedure worked.
At his post-op check, the scale read 469.
For a moment, it looked like a total turnaround.
Where Are They Now Told a Different Story
Lucas returned on My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now? in April 2025.
Two years into the journey, he weighed 352 pounds.
Then 347.
Then 343.
But the momentum slowed.
Loose skin became a major obstacle.
Mental health struggles resurfaced.
Lucas began working with psychologist Dr. Matthew Paradise to address emotional setbacks.
By the end of the episode, he still did not qualify for skin removal surgery.
Lucas Breaks His Silence on Instagram
In April 2025, Lucas finally updated fans.
“I don’t typically boast my success,” he said.
“I just moved on and did everything I wanted to do, and I’m happy.”
He revealed a huge life change.
He left Texas.
He moved to Michigan.
He started over.
Lucas entered the IT field, earned a CompTIA certification, and began studying cybersecurity.
Then came the shock.
He admitted his weight climbed back up.
“I currently weigh 430 pounds,” he said.
“I have no excuses. I fell down. But I’m getting back up.”
A Setback, Not a Surrender
Lucas did not sugarcoat it.
He took full responsibility.
He admitted losing focus.
But he also shared renewed motivation.
Training.
Work.
Structure.
His new goal is clear.
“I want to get below 300 pounds,” he said.
That fight is not over.
