Jinger Duggar is sharing a painful moment from her life: her miscarriage in 2019. In a new video from Live Action, the Counting On alum shared her loss. She talked about how it changed her views on faith, grief, and the value of life.
“I think that when we as believers hold to life at conception as important, we value that human life, no matter how long we get to hold it,” Jinger said softly. “My understanding of life has grown through that loss.”
She said that dealing with grief in a world that often overlooks miscarriage felt really lonely. “The culture around us says, ‘Why are you mourning? This wasn’t that big of a deal,’” she explained. “But it was. It is.”
Jinger said she keeps sharing her story to help others. She wants grieving parents to know their loss matters. “We need more people who speak up for life,” she said.
Counting On: A message that resonated deeply
Fans immediately filled the comment section with love and empathy. “Baby loss is the worst pain and your grieving never stops,” one follower wrote. Another added, “Telling someone that their miscarriage wasn’t a big deal is really sad.”
But not all responses were kind. Some users criticized Jinger for her ties to religious groups. They wondered if her message was being used for politics. Still, others defended her openness, calling it “brave and compassionate.”
Regardless of the debate, Jinger’s vulnerability struck a chord. For many, her openness about miscarriage was a rare reminder. Grief has no timeline, and motherhood doesn’t start only at birth.
Her message continues to reach women who may feel alone in their loss. “It’s okay to grieve,” she said. “It’s okay to talk about it.”
