Janelle Brown finally has the keys to a home that is entirely hers. A PEOPLE exclusive sneak peek from Sister Wives Season 21 shows the moment she walks into her newly built North Carolina house for the first time. She also admits the milestone does not feel the way she expected. Season 21 premieres Sunday, October 4, on TLC.
A Quiet Moment at the Front Door
In the clip, Janelle stands outside the house and smiles. “So after all these months, this is the day,” she says, according to PEOPLE. She says she signed the paperwork and has the key. Then she holds it up and heads inside.
The camera shows an empty, open-concept space. The living room flows into the kitchen. There is a fireplace, a center island, and glass doors that lead to a back deck. Janelle then checks out the upstairs.
In a confessional, she says she is excited but is mostly taking it all in. She says she does not want to call it detached. She explains that big moments sometimes hit her this way. In her words, that is just how she is wired.
Life Without the Committee
Janelle ties the moment to her past. She says she spent about 30 years with Kody Brown and that her whole life was “determined by committee decision.” Now she is making her own choices. She says she built the house herself and is starting a flower farm. She admits it almost felt wrong at first, since no one was weighing in or telling her it was a good idea. Then she reminds herself she did it all on her own.
The home sits on 156 acres. Janelle bought the land with her daughter Madison Brush and son-in-law Caleb Brush. She shared the purchase with followers in December 2024. She said in March that she had been able to move in. Season 21 will also introduce her boyfriend, Pete, and show how their relationship began. Kody and Robyn Brown will not appear this season.
