Kody Brown finally reaches the third stop of his apology tour.
That stop is Meri Brown.
It does not go well.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek of the Dec. 28 episode, Kody sits down with Meri hoping to “move on.”
Instead, he triggers her within minutes.
“You Can Stop Right There”
Kody starts by saying he wants Meri to move forward with her life.
“I want you, more than anything, to just be able to move on,” he tells her.
Meri shuts that down fast.
“I do. I am. I have,” she fires back.
Then Kody crosses the line.
“The way your friends talk about me, that doesn’t seem like it,” he adds.
Meri immediately raises her hand.
“You can stop right there,” she snaps.
The tone changes instantly.
Meri Refuses to Be Silenced
Kody insists he does not want to fight.
Meri is not buying it.
“Then don’t bring up my friends and what they say,” she tells him.
“I’m going to tell you this, Kody.”
Kody tries to redirect the moment.
“I’m just here to apologize, Meri. Not to argue with you,” he says.
Meri does not back down.
“No. I’m going to tell you,” she insists.
“You’re not going to shut me down anymore.”
That line lands hard.
Kody Admits He Messed Up
In his confessional, Kody admits he made a mistake.
“My first mistake was ever saying that she did anything wrong,” he says.
He claims he does not need to win or feel validated.
“And yet, I’m triggering,” he admits.
“I’m like, dude, just stay on point. Just apologize again.”
He even adds, “It’s hard to hate a person who said ‘I’m sorry’ a hundred times.”
Meri does not agree.
Meri Is Ready to Walk Away
Meri’s confessional tells a different story.
“At this point in the conversation, I thought, if this is how this is going to be, I’m not going to continue engaging in this,” she says.
She makes it clear.
“If it gets any more than this, I’m out. I’m going to walk away.”
And she means it.
Why Meri Was Already Guarded
This meeting did not come out of nowhere.
In the previous episode, Meri told friends Jenn and Amber she planned to meet Kody.
Both warned her not to trust him.
Meri agreed.
She admitted she lost trust after trying repeatedly to stay civil while Kody criticized her and her friends.
“If you go on the attack on me or my best friend,” Meri said, “then I will definitely go on the attack back.”
She also revealed her plan.
“I’m going into this conversation with very strong boundaries,” she said.
“His energy messes with my energy. It just does.”
