Amanda Frances is not returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for season 16, and she wants everyone to know she is at peace with it. The 40-year-old announced her departure on Instagram on August 5, framing an entire year of reality TV drama as a closed, meaningful chapter.
“My time on RHOBH is complete,” she wrote. “Saying yes to this show was one of the boldest, wildest, most clarifying things I’ve ever done. And I am genuinely grateful. Grateful for the experience. The women. The viewers who saw me, rooted for me, challenged me, quoted me, misunderstood me, defended me, found my work, bought my books, or simply watched me try to explain metaphysics in a room full of diamonds and side-eyes.”
She called the whole experience “a ministry, honestly,” before explaining her decision to step back. “I came into this experience with an already-full life. And right now, that life is asking for all of me.”
What’s Actually Pulling Her Focus
Amanda has real milestones ahead. Her teaching memoir, Holy F*ck: God Wants You To Have It All, releases August 18. She is also planning a fall wedding to Eddie Tsivislavsky, 40, on top of raising her kids and running a business she has built over 15 years.
“I am creating, teaching, building, and continuing the work I have done for over 15 years: making sure women know that they can have it f*cking all,” she wrote. “And while this show gave me an incredible platform, a platform is not the same thing as a foundation. One of the greatest gifts of the experience was seeing just how strong my foundation actually is.”
She closed with a mantra rather than a goodbye. “Say it with me: I win in the end.”
But TMZ Tells A Different Story
Amanda’s framing puts the decision entirely in her own hands. TMZ reports something different. According to sources close to the show, producers simply did not ask Amanda to return for season 16, meaning the choice may not have been hers to make in the first place.
That is a meaningful gap between the two versions. TMZ also notes that Amanda herself recently said she believed there was a “good chance” Bravo would invite her back, while admitting she was not certain she would accept even if asked. That earlier comment suggests she anticipated the possibility of not returning being out of her hands, which complicates a farewell post written entirely in the language of personal choice.
Neither version cancels the other out completely. It is possible Amanda genuinely does not want to return regardless of whether producers extended an offer, and her public framing reflects real relief at stepping away from a difficult season. It is also possible the graceful exit post is doing some quiet repair work on a decision that was made for her. Reality TV exits are rarely purely one or the other.
A Rocky Rookie Season
Whatever the real story behind the exit, the season itself was genuinely difficult for Amanda. She clashed repeatedly with Dorit Kemsley over Dorit’s divorce, and with Bozoma Saint John, who publicly claimed Amanda was building a “cult” through her business. That is a serious characterization worth noting as Boz’s claim rather than a settled fact, but it captures how contentious Amanda’s rookie year became.
Amanda told Extra that filming and promoting the show consumed an entire year of her life and took up significant “psychological space” while she continued running her business. Even with the difficulty, she maintained gratitude for the relationships and opportunities the show brought her.
Her Castmates Are Sending Her Off Warmly
Two of Amanda’s former co-stars responded publicly to her announcement, and both kept things kind.
“Amanda, good luck on your journey going forward. I can’t wait to read your new book! You are so funny and sweet and smart. We will miss you,” Jennifer Tilly wrote, a comment that reads as though she assumed the decision was Amanda’s to make.
Kathy Hilton offered a similarly warm send-off. “The best of luck to you!!! I’m excited to read your new book. I hope you’re having a great summer and enjoying your beautiful family.”
Whether Amanda walked away or wasn’t invited back, her time on RHOBH is ending the same way for viewers either way: one dramatic season, a batch of headlines, and an exit dressed up in the language of destiny rather than a casting decision.
