90 Day Fiancé: Debby's Son Almost Skipped Her Wedding, Then Grilled Mido The Second He Showed Up

Six years into Debby and Mido’s relationship, her son Caden had never met him. That changed on the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé season 12, and it almost didn’t happen at all.

The week before, Caden told Debby he might not be able to attend the wedding because of a work shift. Debby, 55, did not take the news well. “That’s the stuff that stresses me out. You guys know that Caden is my world. And Caden has to be there. No, I would not get married without Caden there. And Caden knows that,” she told her friends.

Her friends suspected something else might be going on beneath the scheduling conflict, and Debby couldn’t fully shake the same worry herself. “I’m starting to think that there might be something else going on. Maybe he doesn’t really approve of this marriage,” she admitted in a confessional. “But if Caden cannot be at my wedding, I don’t see a wedding.”

Mido, 41, had his own read on the situation, and he didn’t hide his frustration. “What kind of son not come for wedding of his mom?” he asked, adding that he wasn’t sure if Caden had a problem with him specifically or with the wedding itself. “So, with or without Caden, we will marry,” he said.

He Made It, With Less Than A Day To Spare

Caden ultimately sorted out his work schedule and arrived with less than 24 hours before the ceremony, giving him and Mido their first-ever meeting on the eve of Mido becoming his stepfather. Mido, for his part, greeted him by awkwardly calling him “bro,” a strange opener for a man about to legally become his mom’s husband.

Caden Wasn’t Sold On The Proposal Story

Once the introductions were out of the way, Caden made clear he had reservations, and Mido’s own proposal story didn’t help his case. Mido explained how he’d initially faked Debby out by claiming he wanted to return to Egypt before surprising her with a ring, the same stunt viewers watched play out earlier this season.

Caden’s reaction was a serious side-eye. “I’m very protective of my mother,” he said. “So, I mean, to hear that she ran out in tears at her own proposal, like, it’s definitely a little scary. She deserves the best. Then it’s just like, my mom doesn’t need any of that for sure.”

That is a fair read from someone hearing the story cold, without the context of how it resolved. A proposal designed around real tears, even happy ones in the end, is going to sound like a warning sign to a protective son meeting his mom’s fiancé for the first time.

The Career Conversation Got Tense Fast

Caden didn’t stop at the proposal. He pressed Mido directly on his plan to support the family, bringing up Mido’s Hollywood acting ambitions with blunt skepticism.

“I understand you’re successful there. But also I’m aware of how competitive it is here in the United States,” Caden said. “Acting is a very, you know, a million type of shot to be actually sustainably successful at it, in terms of providing for family.”

Mido insisted he wanted to pursue what he loved and nothing else. Caden countered with his own experience giving up a dream for practicality. “For me personally, it was like I really wanted to play baseball,” he said. “But there’s definitely the fine line of things that you really love to do, and things that have to be able to, you know, pay your bills, put food on the table, stuff like that.”

Mido did not take the pushback well. “I was very patient with his questions, but I am a person, I hate a question,” he said in a confessional. “One day, God willing, very soon, I will prove myself and I think you will see in the future, God willing.”

When Caden asked whether Mido had any backup plan, Mido mentioned making music videos for YouTube as a potential secondary income source, which did little to ease Caden’s doubts.

An Uneasy But Warm Ending

Despite the tension, the two didn’t part on bad terms. Mido told Caden directly that his mother’s heart was safe with him. “Don’t worry about that,” he said, clasping Caden’s hand. “And you my bro now, my brother and my best friend. We can enjoy together.”

Caden remained cautiously optimistic rather than fully convinced. “I just don’t want it to be, like, a slouch on the couch type of thing and just, you know, really kind of have a handout,” he said. “I’m definitely going to keep an eye on her, and time will tell how that all goes.”

Six years is a long time to keep a partner away from your kids. Meeting him less than a day before the wedding gave Caden little time to think. He had to process the career questions, the chaotic proposal, and the marriage itself all at once. That he still left the conversation cautiously willing to give Mido a chance says something. So does the fact that it took a near no-show to make the introduction happen at all.
