90 Day Fiancé’s Armando Turned Away At The Border While His Daughter Is In The ICU

90 Day Fiancé's Armando Turned Away At The Border While His Daughter Is In The ICU

Armando Rubio is living every parent’s nightmare with an extra layer of cruelty. His 13-year-old daughter, Hannah, is in an intensive care unit in Phoenix after doctors found blood in her brain, and Armando cannot get to her. He was turned away at the US-Mexico border.

The 90 Day Fiancé star, still in the process of obtaining his spousal visa, shared the news in an Instagram video Tuesday and later spoke to Page Six about the ordeal.

“Every parent wants to be at their child’s bedside when they’re sick, and not being able to hold her hand or comfort her has been the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced,” Armando said. “It feels like we’ve been separated when she needs her dad the most.”

How The Emergency Unfolded

Armando explained that Hannah complained of not feeling well before he noticed alarming symptoms: half her face was “droopy” and half her body “had no strength.”

He took her to a doctor, who recommended transferring her to a better-equipped facility, since their small town in Mexico lacked the proper testing equipment. Given the seriousness of her condition, the family decided to take her to the United States.

Armando’s mother accompanied Hannah by ambulance to Arizona, where doctors discovered blood in her brain. With answers still incomplete, Hannah was airlifted to an ICU in Phoenix. Armando shared footage of the airlift on his Stories, writing, “My baby girl. Please send healing vibes her way.”

Doctors have not yet determined the cause of her symptoms.

The Border Denial

Armando’s husband, Kenny Niedermeier, told TMZ that Armando attempted to enter the US using a letter from the hospital but was turned away. Armando told Page Six he then requested temporary humanitarian parole, only for a US Customs and Border Protection supervisor to tell him those had not been granted since 2025. He and his immigration attorney are now pursuing a separate emergency request.

Before his video, Armando posted an urgent ask to his followers, seeking anyone with contacts at a Mexican embassy or consulate who could help with an emergency medical travel visa.

“I am doing everything within my power to be reunited with her because, more than anything, she needs her daddy, and I need to be with my little girl,” he said.

The situation carries a painful irony for fans of the couple. Armando and Kenny spent years navigating immigration paperwork on camera, and the process that has moved slowly for years is now the wall between a father and his hospitalized child.

Hannah Is Not Alone

Kenny was in Toledo, Ohio for his brother-in-law’s funeral when the emergency struck, and he cut the trip short to fly to Arizona. He shared an airport photo Wednesday with the message, “I’ll be with her soon,” noting Armando’s mother and sister were with Hannah in the meantime.

Kenny also shared an encouraging update with TMZ: Hannah’s physical symptoms have improved about 90 percent since the airlift to Phoenix, though the cause of the brain bleed is still being examined.

How Fans Can Help

A close friend of the couple set up a GoFundMe to help cover Hannah’s hospital bills, which has raised over $28,000 so far. Armando shared it with visible reluctance.

“I’m honestly embarrassed to ask for help,” he wrote, adding that his friend reminded him it is okay to lean on people who care. “Please only do what you can. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.”

Armando and Kenny debuted in season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in 2020, after connecting through a Facebook group for gay dads. Armando shared Hannah with his late ex-wife, who died in a car accident, making the father-daughter bond at the center of this story even more profound. Hannah has already lost one parent. Right now, an immigration process is keeping her from the other, and everyone following this family is hoping both problems resolve soon.
