Catie has tested her fiancé Josh’s patience this season on 90 Day Fiancé. She often tries to kiss others when she’s drunk. In a Page Six exclusive clip from Sunday’s episode, her mother clearly isn’t on her daughter’s side this time.
“I think he’s really good for her,” Catie’s mom told cameras of Josh, who moved from the UK to Portland, Oregon, to be with her daughter. “So I’m really hopeful that they can make this work.”
That’s a mother cheering for her daughter’s fiancé instead of her daughter. This shows how the visit will go, even before the tension begins.
“That’s A Character Flaw She Has Had All Of Her Life”
Catie’s mom did not treat the birthday party incident as an isolated slip. She framed it as part of a pattern stretching back through Catie’s whole life.
“He does seem to make her think less of herself and more towards others,” she said of Josh’s influence, “that’s a character flaw that she has had all of her life.”
The phrasing matters. She credits Josh for helping her daughter gain some self-awareness. However, she makes it clear that the underlying selfishness existed long before he came along.
Catie’s Ice-Cold Response
When Catie told her mom she drank tequila on her birthday and “tried to kiss everyone I know,” her mother showed her disappointment.
“That makes me really sad,” she told her daughter. Catie’s reaction, according to the clip, showed almost no emotion despite saying she was sorry.
Her mom pressed further. “I mean, you drink and your behavior gets obnoxious, and you’re going to hurt somebody someday.”
Catie’s reply was jarring enough to stop the conversation cold: “Like murder?”
Her mother clarified she meant emotionally, not physically. The exchange feels less like a joke and more like two people missing each other. Her mom tries to name a real fear, but Catie turns it into something so absurd that it ends the conversation.
The Deeper Concern Her Mom Raised
Catie’s mother disagreed with the idea that OCD is the only explanation. She acknowledged that her daughter faces internal struggles.
“I don’t want to blame a lot of her behavior on OCD, but she’s got a lot of internal struggles with all those voices telling her things that she doesn’t want to be hearing all the time,” she said.
She also revealed the cost of the pattern beyond this relationship. “She’s burned some relationships, a lot of relationships, several friendships, just because she’s a lot, and people get tired of it.”
A licensed counselor told Page Six earlier this season that Catie’s symptoms don’t match typical OCD signs. Catie’s mother now distinguishes the diagnosis from the behavior. Hearing her do this gives real weight to that expert opinion. Catie’s choices may have a reason, but her family isn’t convinced the label explains it.
Second Thoughts About The Wedding Itself
The mother’s visit follows an equally tense moment between Catie and her friend Ryan. While running one evening, Catie shared her worries about the relationship. Ryan then asked her if she and Josh should marry with these issues still unresolved.
Catie could not fully argue with him. She felt torn between her life with Josh and the appeal of being single. This conflict was causing her real doubt.
Catie feels surrounded by warnings. A friend doubts the wedding, and her mother fears she’ll hurt someone. Now, everyone seems to share the same concern. Josh is the only one who hasn’t said it directly yet. This season is building up to the moment when he finally might.
