Christine Brown Responds to Photo Scene Backlash on Sister Wives

Christine Brown is still upset about one scene. In two Instagram videos this weekend, the Sister Wives star explained why she refused to recreate an old portrait with Meri Brown and Janelle Brown. Many fans did not agree with her.

Sister Wives: What Christine Said

In the second episode of Season 21, Christine declined to recreate a photo of the three wives. She said the portrait showed the “hierarchy of wives” and that she was always placed at the bottom. On Saturday, October 24, she posted a video with her husband, David Woolley, saying she had been “mad for days.” “I’ve been fuming about it for a while,” she said. She said the episode did not give her room to explain how she felt. She also said recreating the photo would make the three look like a unit, and she is a unit with David now.

She added that there was favoritism and many games in their family. She said each of the wives felt like a “basement wife” at times.

Sister Wives: What David Said

David joined her in the video and was sharper. He said it was nonsense that Meri’s friends talked badly about Christine. He also said Meri was acting like Kody by suggesting she has to go through the wives to have a relationship with Kody’s children. Most of the children are adults, he said. Those are David’s opinions. Meri has not responded in these reports. In the episode itself, Meri said it was unfortunate the photo brought up those feelings for Christine, and that she felt bad about it.

Sister Wives: Fans Push Back

Many viewers did not buy it. One commenter asked if they had watched the same episode, and said Meri’s friends were only asking questions and trying to understand both sides. Others said they did not hear anyone speak badly of Christine in the scene. Some pointed to how often Christine has said she does not want to associate with Meri.

Christine posted a second video on Sunday. She said she worries the season makes her look like a villain. She described herself as someone learning to speak up after years of holding back, and said her emotions can come out awkwardly. Some fans said David speaking for her was a problem. Others suggested a private apology to Meri.
