RHOSLC: Bronwyn Newport Says She Is “Maybe the Happiest I Have Ever Been” After Watching Her Dark Season

Bronwyn Newport does not love watching herself this season. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star says she thought she was doing great while filming. Then she saw the episodes.

“I thought I was really killing it and watching it back, I’m like, ‘Oh babe, we were not killing it,’” Newport, 41, told PEOPLE on November 5. “It was a dark place and it’s hard for me to watch myself.”

She spoke on the carpet at DIRECTV UNSCRIPTED, a Beverly Hills party she hosted.

RHOSLC: A Hard Time to Film

The season was filmed earlier this year. Newport was coming out of her marriage to Todd Bradley, grieving the death of her father and starting a relationship with model Brandon Good. They began dating in early February and split a few months later.

She says the cast was not the support she needed. “It’s hard for me to watch how much I was struggling to get something out of the other women in terms of my friendships with them,” she said. “I really needed more support than I was getting there.”

Her conflict with Angie Katsanevas has been a major part of the season. We covered the reiki party fight in an earlier story.

RHOSLC: “I Returned Right to Someone New”

Newport is honest about her own choices. “When you go through a big change like a separation or a breakup, you should always kind of return to yourself,” she said. “I can say that you should do that because I did not do that. I returned right to someone new and I was not in a place to be seeing somebody new.”

She says she has spent time working on herself since then.

RHOSLC: Happier Now

Today, Newport sounds like a different person. She says she is “maybe the happiest I have ever been, which is a big thing to say.”

She credits the work she has done on her grief and her separation. She says her divorce is “very-soon-to-be finalized.” She also feels settled in her career.

She would not say who she is dating. She did say her love life is “great right now.” “That would probably be part of the happiest I’ve ever been, so we’ll see,” she added.

RHOSLC: Life in New York

Newport is almost full-time in New York City. After living with her best friend, designer Christian Siriano, over the summer, she found her own place.

“I’ve always wanted to be living where I’m living right now and not on anybody else’s dime or coattails or help,” she said. “It’s something I’ve totally built for myself and to be doing that after all of this hardship, after 40, after a second divorce, I’m just really excited about all the things to continue to come.”

She still has ties to Salt Lake City. She bought a house for her 20-year-old daughter, Gwen, and her mother, Marge. “The generation above and below me get along much better when I’m not there somehow,” she joked.

RHOSLC: What’s Next

Newport is preparing for the Season 7 reunion with a new plan. She will rewatch the whole season in one go before filming. “I will be extra ready this year,” she said.

After RHOSLC ends, she will compete on The Traitors. It was an “immediate yes,” she said. “My outfits are ready, my bag is packed.”

Asked what show she could join next, she picked Dancing with the Stars. “I haven’t danced on Housewives,” she said. “That’s maybe the only thing people haven’t seen me do yet.”
