Teen Mom’s Amber Portwood Says “There’s No Malice” With Ex Andrew Glennon as She Shares Update on Son James

Teen Mom alum Amber Portwood says things are going well with her ex Andrew Glennon. In a new YouTube video, she called their co-parenting “a very decent job” and said there is “no malice” between them.

Amber, 36, posted the update on Thursday, November 5. She also spoke about her son James, her relationship with her daughter and her boyfriend of almost a year.

Teen Mom: “There’s Just No Malice There”

Amber and Andrew had a very public custody fight over James, who is 8. He has lived with Andrew in California since 2022. Reports say Andrew was granted sole legal and physical custody that year.

Amber said those days are behind them. “We are coparenting and we’re doing a very decent job at it,” she said. “There’s just no malice there.”

She said they both apologized. “Me and Andrew have already said to each other, ‘Sorry’ on both ends on what has all happened and transpired, and that’s all I need.”

This matches what Andrew said in 2024. He told an interview that things had settled “for the sake of our son.” He called Amber a “loving, caring and present” mom to James.

Teen Mom: How She Stays Close to James

Amber lives in Indiana. She says distance has not stopped her from being a big part of James’ life.

“When it comes to my son, guys, I am full-on his mommy,” she said. “I see him. We spend holidays together.” She said she just spent time with him in California. They also play video games together online and talk often.

She said she has more rights than joint custody on paper. Court records reported earlier say Andrew has sole custody, so the two accounts do not match. Amber did not explain the difference.

James is also into Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Amber said he has been moved up to the class for kids ages 10 to 13. She even taught him a few moves herself. “Do you think you can take your mommy now that you learned all this stuff?” she said she asked him. His answer was yes.

Teen Mom: Her Daughter

Amber was also asked about her daughter Leah, whom she shares with ex Gary Shirley. She said she has joint custody but respects Leah’s choice not to be in her life.

“I respected her wishes because of what she had went through,” Amber said. She had said last month that she prays Leah will one day understand how much she loves her. “It’s hard, it’s really hard.”

Teen Mom: Her Boyfriend

Amber also gave an update on her boyfriend, who has not been publicly identified. She said their one-year anniversary is coming up.

“We’re doing magnificent,” she said. “I am so blessed to have a man like him. We are similar in a lot of ways but completely different. He’s a very calm, loving soul.” She said he has a “brilliant mind.”

She first shared the relationship in June 2025 on a TikTok livestream. “He’s got a job for 20-something years, same exact job,” she said. “He’s got a thick accent, and he’s super sweet to me.”

It is a calmer chapter than fans are used to seeing. Amber said she does not want people “writing” things that are “not real and not true.” In this update, at least, her words match what Andrew has said before.
