Kroy Biermann has been ordered to pay more than $64,000 to settle an old gambling debt from a 2021 trip to the Bahamas. The order arrived at a difficult time for the former NFL linebacker and estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak, just over a week after a separate and serious legal matter involving one of his children became public.
The Gambling Debt
According to court documents cited by Us Weekly, the debt stems from a $100,000 line of credit Biermann obtained from Sky Warrior, which handles credit lines for the Baha Mar Casino in the Bahamas. He reportedly used $52,500 of that credit in casino chips during a November 2021 trip and did not repay it. Sky Warrior sued in 2023, and after Biermann defaulted, the case was transferred to Georgia, where he lives. A Fulton County judge ordered him to pay the $52,500 principal plus prejudgment interest, along with $11,927.35 in attorneys’ fees and costs. Biermann, 41, was served with the post-judgment order at his Georgia home on August 28.
A Separate Legal Matter Involving His Son
The order arrived just 11 days after Biermann’s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., was arrested. He faces charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery linked to an incident with a female classmate. KJ appeared before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge on September 11, where he was granted a $200,000 bond. Zolciak and the couple’s 29-year-old daughter, Brielle, attended the hearing.
Under the bond conditions, KJ must live at his mother’s home, attend school virtually, and stay off social media and cellphones. He is also subject to electronic monitoring and is barred from contact with the alleged victim, her family, or anyone age 16 or younger.
During the hearing, prosecutors also raised an additional allegation tied to a prior juvenile matter. KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, disputed how that matter was characterized in court, telling Page Six that the characterization “grossly misrepresent[s] both the facts and the ultimate resolution of that case.” Sheffield said the earlier issue involved “inappropriate, crude behavior by two middle-schoolers.” It did not lead to any charges for statutory rape or similar offenses. It is important to note that the current charges against KJ are allegations at this stage of the case, not a conviction.
A Difficult Stretch for the Family
Biermann has reportedly continued attending church with his girlfriend, Jillian Green, in Alpharetta in the weeks since. Beyond that, the family has not made additional public statements as the case moves forward.
A Lot for One Family to Carry at Once
Two unrelated legal issues hitting the same family in just two weeks is tough. It brings financial strain and other challenges. The gambling debt is a matter of public record and fairly straightforward. The KJ case is serious and is still in the court system. There are formal charges on one side, while his attorney firmly denies them. Both deserve to be reported accurately and without getting ahead of what has actually been established in court.
