Teddi Mellencamp says her tears on the podcast were about more than a breakup. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 45, told fans the split from PJ Conley hit a deeper fear tied to her cancer fight.
She shared the message in a video on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, November 3. She was responding to the reaction after her Two Ts in a Pod episode, where she cried while describing how Conley, 31, ended their four-month relationship.
RHOBH: “I Was Meshing the Two”
Mellencamp thanked fans for their concern. Then she explained what she thinks happened.
“I know I got very emotional on the pod but I think part of what it was, I mean clearly yes, I was very very sad,” she said. “But I think I was meshing the two of ‘I don’t see a future with you’ and ‘I don’t have a future.’”
She said cancer makes that fear stronger. “Because of cancer-related things, that’s such a big fear of mine that there’s no future that I take things very personally.”
The difference she draws is important. Conley told her he did not see her in his future. She heard something bigger. That is a very human reaction, and she says it out loud.
RHOBH: “I’m Fighting for My Life”
Mellencamp ended the video with a message about moving forward.
“At the end of the day, all I can do is work my very hardest to feel my very best and that is going to be enough,” she said. “I’m fighting for my life and I’m gonna keep doing it.”
She also spoke about the people who come and go. “People are gonna add special parts to your life and it’s going to make you happy at times and then it’s gonna make you sad at times. That’s okay. You just gotta keep fighting for you.”

On the October 30 episode, Mellencamp told cohost Dolores Catania that Conley ended things over dinner the night before. She said he listed what he liked about her, then told her, “When I look at the future, I don’t see you in it.”
Mellencamp had said earlier in the conversation that she takes life day by day. “I don’t know if I’m going to be alive in the future,” she told him. We covered that conversation in our earlier story on the breakup.

Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. The cancer later progressed to stage 4 and spread to her brain and lungs. She had surgery and has been on immunotherapy since.
In October 2025, she said scans showed “no detectable cancer,” though she was not considered in remission. In a September appearance on Extra, she said she was “cancer-free for right now” but still had months of treatment ahead.
