Sister Wives: Christine Brown Reveals the Moment She Told Kody, “That’s My Bedroom”

Christine Brown knew exactly when she was done sharing a bedroom with Kody Brown. On the November 1 episode of Sister Wives, she told fellow ex-wife Meri Brown how it happened. The answer came on a night when Kody walked toward her stairs and she stopped him.

The scene aired on TLC. Christine and Kody were married for 25 years and have six children together.

Sister Wives: “That’s My Bedroom”

Christine said the moment came after a hard talk. She recalled what Kody told her then. “He wasn’t attracted to me. He wasn’t interested,” she said.

Then, she said, he started up the stairs. “I said, ‘What are you doing?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m gonna go to bed.’ I’m like, ‘Your bed’s not here. You have to leave.’”

Kody asked where his bedroom was. Christine did not give him one.

“I don’t know. It’s not here. That’s my bedroom. The only person allowed in there is me, ’cause I actually wanna be with me.”

This is Christine’s account. Kody’s side of that night was not part of the scene.

Sister Wives: Leaving Was Not a Single Moment

Christine said the decision built slowly. “I didn’t know I had to leave until I knew it was time to go, and then I left.”

Meri shared a similar path. “As far as like me leaving, it was a process, because I still felt like I had my values, which were commitment, marriage, whatever,” Meri said. “And I thought that he would come around. But I don’t regret how long it took me, because I feel like I grew so much through the process.”

Both women describe waiting for Kody to change. Neither says that wait was wasted.

Sister Wives: The Moment With Ysabel

One event stood out for Christine. She said Kody refused to come to their daughter Ysabel’s back surgery.

“That was the biggest [thing],” Christine told Meri. “I was like, I can’t be married to this guy anymore. He just says, in front of Ysabel’s face, ‘I can’t leave my family that long.’ And she was like, ‘I thought we were family.’”

That reply from a child likely hit harder than any argument between adults. The family Kody said he could not leave was the same one that needed him in the room.

Sister Wives: Meri’s Part in It

Meri also played a role, Christine revealed. She recalled a season 10 conversation when she told Meri, “I can’t do marriage with Kody anymore.”

Meri tried to comfort her by telling her to look at the view. Christine said she heard none of it. “What I was thinking was, ‘I don’t want what I have, and I don’t want what you have, and I don’t care about those mountains anymore.’”

Christine did not mean it as an insult. She was describing how far gone she felt. In her own telling, the marriage was already over for her, and she was only waiting to say it out loud.

Sister Wives: How She Announced the Split

Christine announced her split from Kody on Instagram in 2021.

“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she wrote. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”
